How to Play Owen in Chaos Zero Nightmare
Owen's gameplay revolves around his Wind Charge card, which adds extra hits to attack cards. The way you play him depends on whether you're using him as your main damage dealer or as a support character who buffs other team members. His kit is straightforward - you're looking to stack up damage by combining Wind Charge with his high-multiplier attacks.
The standard approach is to use Wind Charge before playing expensive attack cards. Wind Slash is your go-to for AoE situations, hitting all enemies for 220% damage, and when you add Wind Charge to it, you're essentially doubling that damage output. For single-target situations like boss fights, Gale Strike works better since it hits harder on one enemy and gives you some shields as a bonus. Break Armor fits into your rotation by applying Vulnerable stacks, which make enemies take more damage from your hits.
One thing that catches new players is trying to combo Wind Charge and Wind Riding in the same turn. It doesn't work that way - cards you play during your turn don't go to the discard pile until after the turn ends. So you need to use Wind Riding on the following turn to pull Wind Charge back into your hand. This creates a cycle where you can keep reusing Wind Charge across multiple turns.
When it comes to deck building, you want to remove his basic attack and shield cards as soon as you can. Owen already has shields built into some of his damage cards, so Weapon Block becomes redundant. Downward Cut is just too weak compared to what else he can do. Focus on keeping his core cards and adding strong neutral options like Overwhelm, Sacred Strike, or Rage. These neutral cards have high damage multipliers that benefit even more from the extra hits Wind Charge provides.
The Epiphany choices matter a lot for how Owen performs. For Wind Charge, the Epiphany V that adds three hits while reducing damage by 50% actually ends up dealing more total damage than just doubling a hit. The math works out because you're getting three instances of damage instead of two. For Wind Slash, dropping the cost to 1 AP gives you more flexibility in your turns and makes it easier to combo with other cards.
Wind Riding has some interesting Epiphany options too. The upgrade version that deals damage and shields when you use Wind Charge basically turns it into a damage card disguised as a utility card. You're getting shields, retrieving Wind Charge, and dealing AoE damage all at once.
Break Armor becomes way better at 0 cost, making it easy to slip into any turn to apply Vulnerable stacks.
Owen can also work as a sub-DPS in teams with other carries. If you get the Wind Charge Epiphany that lets it buff any character's attack cards, you can use it on someone like Haru's Anchor Shot or other expensive, hard-hitting attacks from teammates. This role is more niche but can work when you need extra damage amplification for a specific character.
