Sub-DPSLuke CZN
Luke

Luke is excellent at generating Will-O-Wisps for Chizuru because he can do it reliably without needing a specific third character. He also provides plenty of multi-hit attacks and card generation that work well as long as you have enough action points, giving Chizuru consistent offensive support.

Rei helps Chizuru in two key ways: her Snack Time ability lets you draw extra cards temporarily, which helps you find Chizuru's important cards faster (especially early on), and she has powerful buff cards that significantly boost Chizuru's damage output when timed right.

Additionally, Rei's deck has many upgrade cards that help thin out your overall deck, making it easier to draw Chizuru's best combos consistently.

CharacterExplanation
Tressa CZN
Tressa
Tressa can generate lots of Will-O-Wisps using Shadow Reload builds, but this requires a third teammate with strong healing.

Cassius
Cassius provides strong card cycling and draw through his Quest mechanics, either Full House for extra draws or Triple 0 for making himself a secondary damage dealer. His Joker ability lets you search for specific Chizuru cards on demand.
Hugo CZN
Hugo
Hugo offers solid multi-hit attacks and excellent card draw that helps you access Chizuru's best cards each turn.

This is technically Chizuru's highest damage equipment option due to its massive Crit DMG bonus, which benefits most of her cards. You can pair it with Cursed Corpse for maximum damage or Black Wing to help meet Potential requirements.

However, Bound At Dusk frequently discounts Chizuru's attack cards, which disqualifies them from Conqueror's bonus. If you're not using the discount or can avoid triggering it, this set performs excellently.

Playstyle Tips and Strategy/How to Play

Chizuru is a single-target damage dealer who also provides AP efficiency and minor healing for your team. Her kit has unique mechanics that require some attention to maximize her damage output.

Basic Gameplay Loop:

  1. Apply a debuff to enemies
  2. Attack frequently or use multi-hit cards to generate Will-O-Wisps (her unique resource)
  3. Once you've gathered enough Wisps, your Shadow of the Moon card upgrades to its + version for a powerful strike

One of Chizuru's upgrade cards, Bound At Dusk, prevents the entire team from gaining AP except through Ravaging enemies. While you can skip this card, you'll lose significant damage and miss out on a useful effect, random cards in your hand get discounted each turn (1 card normally, 2 with the right Epiphany). This makes her excellent in Chaos mode but less impactful in Save Data modes where optimized decks already exist.

You can build Chizuru teams two ways:

  • Dual DPS: Pair her with characters who attack frequently without using much AP (like Luke or Tressa) to generate Wisps for her, better for Chaos mode
  • Solo DPS: Use two supports and let Chizuru generate her own Wisps, offers more flexibility in Save Data content

As a limited 5-star exclusive character, Chizuru isn't stronger than top-tier damage dealers, but she offers unique utility alongside solid single-target damage without powercreeping existing characters.
